Life in Runes Cancer 2015 - UrazR

UrazR is telling us that in the coming month, some of our foundations are going to shift.

We get energy from many different places: our clan, our homes, our jobs, our cars, music, books, television, classes. We extend our roots into them, make them part of our support group, our comfort patterns, our safe havens or our learning centers.

But Uraz is saying that some of those foundations, even ones that worked so well in the past, are no longer going to be  comforting, supportive, educational.

This is natural. Everything grows and changes. Things wear out or run down. Batteries drain. Patterns become ruts. People grow and expand and evolve.

And as we change, our needs change. Or our way of fulfilling needs changes. The blanket fort gave way to the plush couch. Now the couch is only comfortable in memories and needs to be replaced. Perhaps by a recliner. Which will break down or become uncomfortable to your body in its turn.

Even in a metaphysical sense, places we connected to and grounded ourselves in are shifting; the calm place that  recharged your core is now a seething volcano. The soothing white noise is now an irritating buzz. Mother Earth is busy revamping herself and do you want to ground in a vortex?

It is time to find the foundations that need to change and begin uprooting ourselves. Time to actively try new connections. Celebrate the transformations, give thanks to the old forms of support, and move on. Happily, this is a reading that spreads over the month so we have time to test the various waters, or soils, or rooftops. Play a little. Explore a little.

And the calmer you are in this change of location, the easier the transfer will be. Even if it's fast, it doesn't have to be painful or stressful. Hence the advice from the runes.

UrazR - foundations which served us well in the past are no longer supportive. It is time to find new connections and make an easy transition.

Whenever a rune reading is about something I'm experiencing, I wonder if it's going to apply to more than what is currently in progress. For example, if I were preparing to get a new vehicle, and this rune appeared, I'd wonder if it meant it's time to sell my house also. (happily I rent, so it's not actually an issue. To my knowledge. Hmm. Grrr.)

However, even if there is nothing else (or nothing other) than the foundations currently being repotted, it is a good time to reflect on what I do consider my foundations. Am I getting bored with the music I have? Is it time to find a new author to read? Perhaps I should get out of the house (apartment) and visit parks, or take day trips to "exotic" places. Even my decision making process could be a foundation in need of change.

And. Or. Maybe I don't have new systems to replace ones that were already released. Like comfort eating. I'm about 50/50 - oh, all right, 70/30 - in my practice to not turn immediately to food in times of sorrow, boredom, frustration, happiness. But I haven't actually found a good substitute, or new practice.

I have to admit, though, I think it will be a nice day when we get a general reading which does NOT indicate change, growth, reattachment. Not that we ever stop growing, but resting on my laurels sound nice and peaceful.

At least I also now I am 70/30 successful at flowing easily and gracefully through situations. Which means, whatever the changes, I know happiness is a byproduct.

I hope you have a great day!

LIR 52015 weekly - Naihwaz & PerthroR

I have learned a new aspect of Naihwaz this past weekend - that of the sacred fire, the fire created to purify the offerings, to request aid and blessings, to accept the bounty that comes. In my mind, this translates as making the fire, and the objects, sacred. Which leads one to wonder, just what does sacred mean?

I think, I feel, sacredness is connected to that feeling of Nirvana, of accomplishment, of awe and wonder and joy so deep it's difficult to express. And isn't that what we feel when we finally reach home, after a journey? When we finally accomplish our goals? When we finish a great book, or hear an amazing song, or see a beautiful science theory?

We feel the moment is sacred. We may even feel the item or event is sacred. Hopefully we also feel sacred ourselves, for that moment.

What if we could be in that moment all the time? What if we allowed ourselves, our movements, our thoughts, our truths to be constantly awesome, amazing, and sacred?

There is no need for bells or whistles, for jewelry, outfits, or feasts. Just an acknowledgement, a silence, an acceptance of the tools, the moment, the transition. A knowing that it is, they are, we are, sacred. Because, whatever we have and however we have practiced, these moments will never be again. And we have given of our best.

So this week Naihwaz asks, what is sacred within our hands, within ourselves here at the end of this transition? What is celebrated, now that we have arrived on our personal shore? Can we, further, allow the tools and gifts and moments to just be, simple and sacred (in whatever fashion you consider sacred), without trying to make them more, or less, than they are? Can we allow ourselves to be, in every moment, sacred, purely ourselves, no adornment necessary?

PerthroR chimes in with a thought. To really celebrate, feel, allow the awesomeness of this moment, perhaps wait before running out to celebrate with your clan. Allow that moment of silence, of pure personal appreciation. Allow yourself to rest, explore the tools, the shore line, the end of your journey. We have worked on and from our truths for a very long time. This may only be one shoreline, one storm, one situation or emotional discovery on our path, but we deserve to appreciate it for ourselves. Not to dilute it with the party, the celebration.

We deserve to make the moment sacred with the silence and fullness of our regard.

Granted, PerthroR may also be a question, or an answer to a different question. Even without the desire to give each moment its own sacred space in time, this may be a good weekend to just sit back and breath. No big parties, no rush to connect with your clan. Allow yourself and your body (and your tools and your thoughts) time to process, settle back into shape.

As I type this, I realize sometimes we float a long time between the end of the storm and settling into shore. It's not that the distance is long, or even that we're adrift. It's simply that it takes that long to process all that has happened and apply it to the new world we are in.

So, allow yourself the sacredness of the moments it takes to celebrate your scientific discovery, to appreciate all the amazing work you have done, to replay the song or reread the book, to find where you are and what you have. There is no rush to connect with your clan. They will always be there. And it can be easier to find the sacred truths in ourselves, if we each have the space to process all the awesomeness personally, before muddying it with the opinions and perceptions of others.

Who are also uniquely sacred.

                                           *******************************

Before I rush off to do the upload the next thing, I just have to say. The sacred part I will enjoy practicing.

The not partying, gathering, celebrating with my clan? Not so easy. I'll have to think about that one. I mean, yes, not only would it help me process, it would help me catch up on all the things I want to DO with all the insights and tools and...

Let me put it another way. I often think, when I encounter Naihwaz, that it's saying yes, you can make do with these few [insert tool names here]. But all it says is you'll have what you need (and conversly, what you need is what you'll have.)

Long pause for a perusal of what I have - when it comes to ideas, projects, happy to do's and necessary to do's - I have a lot. Insert expletive of your choice lot. And another party next weekend. It does make sense to settle in, buckle down, physically process some of my to do list.

but.

But?

"But I really want to see the Avengers on the big screen," she whispers. I wonder if I can tell myself it's self care? Will I believe it? It could even be my truth.

I hope you have a great week!

LIR 63014 - Eihwaz

Today is about balance. What worlds, realities, needs are you balancing? Is it working?

*****************************************************************

As seems to be normal for this year, another issue has been - well, maybe not yet resolved  - defined.  Defined is a good word.  I know the reason why my singing range is not what it used to be.

And, as seems normal for this year, the definition needed some absorption time.  So, I turned to my old coping methods.

Well, to be more precise, I knew what my old coping methods were - which ones I really wanted to use - and modified them.  So my balance yesterday was between fulfilling the comfort need of the moment and being happy the next day.  One could say the worlds I balanced were present and future; or even past, present and future (since the comforting technique I was changing was a learned behavior of the past).

I also did some work before I allowed myself time to absorb.  Not only because I had readings that needed to be posted, but also because it followed my current thought pattern.  I am a writer, yes?  So, let's actually write about what we're thinking!  (You will find this post on the meanderings page.)  So, I balanced another set of needs - the need to keep going with my work, which is a huge pressing need; and the need to stop and regain my equilibrium (which in itself is another balance).

The final world, reality, perhaps perception I balanced (and am still balancing) is the one between good and bad - terms I have grown out of.  I prefer happy and unhappy, really.  And while it was tempting to make a huge dramatic story out of the issue, to explain why it impacted me, the truth (my truth) is that there are positives and negatives, depending on the day and my perceptions of self and the truths I am clinging to.  A limited vocal range is traumatic news, because it shows that what I can do and what I expect to do are on different wave lengths.  But trauma just means change, adjustment, adaptation.  And the positive is, at least for this moment, the reason I can't sing that song has everything to do with the instrument and little to do with the player.

So, I have a whole new world to explore - and a new balance to achieve, between what I have and what I want to do with it.  And, I did often envy the altos...

Sometimes, it feels it would be easier to let someone else be responsible for your choices.
But you’re the one who will judge yourself tomorrow.
Your life.
Your truth.
Your Choice.
I hope you have a great day!

LIR 42414 - Naihwaz & Hagalaz

Sometimes, we find the biggest transformation is at the end of the storm.  The person who started the journey is not the person who ends it, and does need room and time to accept her or his new self.

***************************************************

I'm still working on this one, it seems.  I spent some time with a person who made me wonder if I used to be like that...  and this is neither a positive or negative, because all aspects have a person can be enjoyable and then annoying...  or perhaps am i still like her in some aspects.  I'm learning that my reactions to people tell me a lot about myself.  And working the retail has brought a lot of old patterns back to the front.  And some of them make me happy; some of them don't make me happy; and some of them feel like simple survival skills.

I know it's easy to look at all the situations around us and say "why me?"  And I think the point of this reading is that answer - because we are unhappy with who we are.  I want change, so I embark on a huge path of change.  And at the end, I decide which aspects I keep and which I throw away.  Because no one can truly take anything from me without my permission.  So the changes, the huge sweeping transition brought on by the storm of Hagalaz, is only a suggestion.  Only the strong things survives the hailstorm, but nothing stops me from running right out and replacing the old destroyed things I miss.

So when I reach the end of the storm, when I wash up on the beach with Naihwaz - the tools I need to survive - they are the tools of my choosing.  The tools and patterns, memories and thoughts I have chosen to cling to, to drag with me through the change.

We are the mistresses & masters of our destiny.  Whether we choose to put our lives into the hands of a Divine Being, or whether we choose to maintain an iron control, we are in charge.  We Choose.  So at the end of the storm, to really achieve the change we desire, we must allow ourselves, our patterns, our judgements, our realities to change as well.

LIR 12414- HagalazR

It may feel like there's a storm on the horizon, but it's nothing more than hot air.  "Enhance your calm" and keep moving forward at your own steady pace.  Some people need to vent, yes, but there's no need to get sucked into drama that's not your own.

**************************

I don't know if this was relevant in my life yesterday.  Or no more than usual, as I am trying to let other people keep their own drama.

But I did use it this morning, before meditation.  Because of the Ogham card I pulled for myself, I was expecting some life changing, big revelation from this morning's meditation, so I was considering postponing my meditation until I'd done the general rune reading - so as not to confuse my stuff with others'.  But, I remembered HagalazR and thought, well, maybe it won't be such a transition.  So I meditated.

And true enough, my mental journey was not so shattering.  Maybe I'm in a place now where I can accept information about myself and my journey without it being a huge drama.  Rather like receiving another assignment or learning a new dance move or adding harmony to something.  Or being told I've spelt the word wrong.  Again.

No drama, just something new to practice.

It's okay to be emotional, impatient, exuberant in our nurturing today.  To be human is to be passionate (& occasionally pissed off.)

I hope you have a great day!
