LIR Virgo 2015 - Gebo

Gebo is the gift of equality. Of balance. Of receiving and giving equally.

So this month, the question is, are all parts supporting each other equally?

Our lives are full of parts. And when we step away and look at the whole, we see how the parts flow from one to the other. The "work to money to food to energy to work" flow is the most common example. And each part is vitally important to the healthy whole. The work is not more important than the food; the money is not more important than the work. In this cycle, they are all equally necessary steps, and equally supportive of and supported by each other.

Granted, not every aspect of our lives is a major corner stone. And, as usual, this reading may to one part of your life. But whatever the situation, the important focus is, are all the parts giving equal energy?

Relationships work best this month with equal give and take, equal support and equal nurturing.
Projects work best if everyone is contributing equally.
Your daily work flow could be best served if you are providing equal focus to each aspect.
If you're like me and have a few different hats, each one needs attention this month.

And it's more than just attention. It's seeing how each of the parts of the relationship flow together. How do they support each other? How do they require support? Because equal energy (and equal support) does not mean similar. For one person, intense energy contribution may only be represented by one line in the project plan. For another, a whole sheet of lines. But through both of their efforts, the project is a complete whole.

Likewise, in any relationship (which, for this exercise, let's define as 2 or more humans in communication), the more people involved, the more versions of language, production, and support you're going to have. Our job is not to judge the types of support or effort; our goal is not to make everything uniform. We simply want to feel, to know, to assist in creating the balanced flow.

Gebo - it's about balance. Equality. And knowing that equality does not mean sameness. When you can see / feel the equal connection & support flow through a variety of things and people -- the beauty of that is the true gift of Gebo.

I hope you  have an excellent Virgo month.

LIR 32415 - Gebo

Things may not always look equal, because we each have different perceptions of what is hard. But today, if you're wondering…

Are things balanced? Yes.  Every aspect is supporting the project or relationship equally.

How much should I contribute? An equal amount. No less; certainly no more. Let every part or person in the project / group contribute their own share.

Hello. I'd like to welcome me back to the daily rune readings. I have very high hopes this will become more consistent in posting again.

The balance thing has been relevant to me today in the application of energy to different, concurrent projects.

Part of my struggle through the transformational stages of these last few years has been in answer to that age old question, what do I want to be when I grow up? Because, ta da, I'm finally in the stage of stepping into the personal responsibility and leadership roles I attribute to grown ups, and yet, I still have no solid answer to the question "What do you do?" And a reluctance to give up any of my joys, or to slight one skill by lauding another.

What do I do? I write. I sing. I read runes. I teach. I coach. I dance. I wash. I plant. I pay. I budget. I drive. I think. I practice. I am.

So, when it comes down to how to plan my day - and I have learned how to merge the ideal plan with what I actually do (yay me!) - to which aspect of all my "do's" do I give the most time?

And the answer is, to none. As they are all things I want to do, they are all things that deserve equal attention. Yes, even the dish washing. And the dancing to Pink & Eminem. And the writing these posts. And the household administrative duties. And. And. And. I have already winnowed out all the things I don't have as much passion for. What is left requires & deserves all of my focus at the time.

It is reminiscent of juggling I suppose. But my focus does not multi-task. True, I can sing while I wash dishes, or crochet while I'm watching tv, but only one of those things is getting my full, cognitive, attention.

So, if my stitches are even, please don't ask me about the plot of the latest NCIS episode.

I hope you have a great day!

LIR 73014 - Mannaz

A good day to rebalance, with attention on the physical -
 be it financial, visual, health.
Remember, the body is as important as the mind.
*******************************

this is about calories again, isn't it?

Actually, I think it probably was.  And my attempt (less successful than I wanted) to balance the amount of cake I consumed with the time spent doing Dance Dance Revolution.

And I just have to ask... what is it about cake?  Yum.

Today’s driving force may be an instinctive fear or hope that time is running away from you.
But whether your deadline is tomorrow or next year, your best pace is the one which enables you to do your best.
Time is only fleeting when categorize it. Now is eternal.
I hope you have a great now!

LIR 63014 - Eihwaz

Today is about balance. What worlds, realities, needs are you balancing? Is it working?

*****************************************************************

As seems to be normal for this year, another issue has been - well, maybe not yet resolved  - defined.  Defined is a good word.  I know the reason why my singing range is not what it used to be.

And, as seems normal for this year, the definition needed some absorption time.  So, I turned to my old coping methods.

Well, to be more precise, I knew what my old coping methods were - which ones I really wanted to use - and modified them.  So my balance yesterday was between fulfilling the comfort need of the moment and being happy the next day.  One could say the worlds I balanced were present and future; or even past, present and future (since the comforting technique I was changing was a learned behavior of the past).

I also did some work before I allowed myself time to absorb.  Not only because I had readings that needed to be posted, but also because it followed my current thought pattern.  I am a writer, yes?  So, let's actually write about what we're thinking!  (You will find this post on the meanderings page.)  So, I balanced another set of needs - the need to keep going with my work, which is a huge pressing need; and the need to stop and regain my equilibrium (which in itself is another balance).

The final world, reality, perhaps perception I balanced (and am still balancing) is the one between good and bad - terms I have grown out of.  I prefer happy and unhappy, really.  And while it was tempting to make a huge dramatic story out of the issue, to explain why it impacted me, the truth (my truth) is that there are positives and negatives, depending on the day and my perceptions of self and the truths I am clinging to.  A limited vocal range is traumatic news, because it shows that what I can do and what I expect to do are on different wave lengths.  But trauma just means change, adjustment, adaptation.  And the positive is, at least for this moment, the reason I can't sing that song has everything to do with the instrument and little to do with the player.

So, I have a whole new world to explore - and a new balance to achieve, between what I have and what I want to do with it.  And, I did often envy the altos...

Sometimes, it feels it would be easier to let someone else be responsible for your choices.
But you’re the one who will judge yourself tomorrow.
Your life.
Your truth.
Your Choice.
I hope you have a great day!

Recalling a past success or focusing on a goal nearing completion will help bring feelings back into balance.

************************************

I can say the last 24 hours (ish *G*) have been more calm and focused than the previous weekend...  I felt I did good work on the work I was doing, and I've had a good and productive morning.  So, i would say it showed as hard work from previous days, months and years allowed me to slip back into the focused, productive groove.

LIR 21314 EhwazR & MannazR

Things may feel out of balance, out of flow, not as symbiotic or sympathetic as usual.  If this works for you, yay!  Otherwise, slow down.  Going faster will NOT pull things together.  And, oh yeah, breathe.

******************************************
I've been out of town for a few days, so it's been awhile, (hi!), but I totally remember this one.  Because it worked backwards.

Instead of slowing down, in order to accomplish my goals, I would have done better to go faster.  But every time I felt the urge to speed up, I instead sat down (figuratively - well, and literally once, when I was waiting for something. *G*.)  So, I lost an opportunity I had been waiting for, to have a long conversation with someone.

So while it is true that going faster will not pull things together...  because I do tend to lose things, and I don't multi-task well... it is perhaps time to practice moving with more purpose.  Taking a step back or a deep breath does not mean losing momentum.

Of course, the optimist in me says it turned out the way it needed to be.  Perhaps more conversation would have been ended up putting too many ideas in my head, and I wouldn't have remembered what I wanted to.  (They made the note taking phones just for me!)  Or...

Wait, no second guessing.  No back tracking.  From this point of view at this time, I would like to have had more time for conversation.  So my lesson is, if it says things may feel out of flow, I might want to check twice about what I think the flow is.

LIR 12514 Berkano & MannazR

It's okay to be emotional, impatient, exuberant in our nurturing today.  To be human is to be passionate (& occasionally pissed off.)

**************************
I did keep this reading in mind through my day, as I interacted with others.  Trying to remind myself I didn't have to just sit aside and let others vent; I could put in my two cents of truth.  But instead it seemed to come down to my body putting its two cents in.

By the end of the day, all I wanted was to stare at the television and whine a little about how poorly I felt.  Which is a big no-no, in vocabulary terms.  But, the truth was i didn't want to play anymore.  So, when my partner suggested I take a day off from electronics (which in essence meant not to any work at all), my first thought was - phhssshhhhttt.  How dare he think he knows what's wrong with me?  (and yeah, my second thought was, but how do I take a day off without television, e-reader, or video games?)

Then I thought, since taking health advice from him would be the exact opposite of what I normally do, maybe Berkano and MannazR are saying I should listen.  The epitome of cranky nurturing?

So yesterday I had an interesting day NOT using any of my electronic communications devices.  It was rough, I must say.  These days I don't even write unless I'm sure it's going onto the Sky Drive; because Fates Forbid I should lose one precious scrap of wisdom that falls from my ears.  And today is more of a day I'd like to take off.  After all, the washing machine isn't working, so that's a sign to take it easy, right?  So, I don't quite know if I "applied the reading correctly".  Shrug.

Interestingly, MannazR is showing again today.  Makes me wonder....

Things may feel off kilter today, and attention is pulled to one side.  Is it because that side needs more attention?  Or do you prefer to focus on the other side to restore the balance?

I hope you have a great day!

112413 - Mannaz in Air

Let us balance our communication; we can speak our truths in a form acceptable to our listeners.

**************************************
Thanks to this rune yesterday, I did pay attention to how I communicated, with an ear toward trying to express myself more politely, kindly, compassionately.  That is a good word.  Compassionately -- because it indiicates an awareness of the listener's state of mind, yet doesn't really indicate giving up the truth of what I want to say.
I found out, in most cases, it was easiest to speak other peoples' thoughts.  Trying to get my truths from brain to tongue was (and has been) very difficult.  (Hence my preferance for writing.)
But when I am in conversation with someone, and we are thinking the same thing, then it is easy to express myself.  Because the listener is already thinking it.
Is this a by-product of divination?  Or is divination easier for me because I am more tapped into others' brains than my own?  At least verbally.

Concurrently, communication via my favored form has also been interesting... the internet has been playing silly buggers again.  So I am actually typing this from my phone.  Another adventure in communication.
One of the reasons I purchased this phone was because Windows Office could be downloaded to it in a mobile version.  Yay!  I could work directly on my stories or meanderings without having to save it in 40 different formats.
Yeah, well.
Turns out, the mobile versions do not play well with the keyboard accessory I have.  (I couldn't enter spaces.  Letters, but no spaces.  Do you realize how important spaces are?  They give words form, definition.  So philisophical.)  So, Ihave to find another way (which is polaris office.)  I am going to have to balance between the two programs.  I am going to have to do that for many of the forms of communication of this new phone, because some of the programs I really like don't work the way I want them to.
It's practice.  It balance.  It's being compassionate (open and understanding) toward the device I'm using to communicate.

So.  I hope this reads as well as it sounded in my head.  I'm going to have to practice squinting proofreading if the internet continues it's trickster course.  Granted, it helped me discover a few things...

I hope you have a great day!
